about
In December 2017 a wave of flu was traveling across my home state of Alabama. I was about three days from returning back to my new home in Oakland Cali and was one of many that caught some version of this flu. When the day came for me to leave Alabama I was still severely sick. As a result of needing to relieve the pressure off my ears during the flight some of the mucus and other fluids that my body was producing in order to fight off the sickness got caught behind my right ears tympanic membrane and settled there. It has remained on the inner part of my ear for the past seven months. While recording this track I experienced many different musical effect from the fluid. I would hear beating patterns and an intense amplification of my heart beat and the moving joints in my neck. A few days later after talking with someone about the track I realized I was the only one experiencing this reaction to the music. After this depressing realization I still think the music is worthwhile despite being at odds in my experience with everyone else. It serves as maybe a marker of the way I am experiencing sound in my life right now.
update 2019 - The fluid finally moved off my ear! It seems like my hearing is nice and healthy
The guitar I used is very special to me and has led to me many different avenues with music, like this one. I really love this track because of the homemade hollow-body guitar and the gradual flawed sounds of the drone over the evolution of the track. NO!! guitar amplifier on the track!
